ABOUT ABEBAW M MERI

A M Meri Architects Limited (operating as A M Meri Chartered Consultant Architects) was established in 2007 by Abebaw M Meri, and has since been known as a very innovative and unique architectural practice. Abebaw invests his time in developing ideas for clients that leads to practical solutions to any given design challenge. His unique design methods and techniques are flagships of his practice, along with striving to create comfortable, visually pleasant and functional spaces that benefit the occupants, and the wider society, with everlasting added value. The practice provides services from conception to completion.

Abebaw M Meri, the Principal Architect, studied Architecture first at the University of East London and acquired BSc (Hons) in 1996 and then specialised in Advanced Environment and Energy Study In Architecture in 1998. His first responsibility as a designer involved various specialised building elements, space planning and interior design. Having married in late 1997, and his unique design talent beginning to attract wider attention, he became very busy in the design studio. At his first practical role as a senior designer, Abebaw spent most of his time between 1999 and 2001 detailing building elements for schools, flats, commercial buildings and the London Underground. He also won a competition and designed a special display stand for one of the biggest film processing laboratories in the Country, to revolutionise new digital printing technology.

In the year 2001, Abebaw joined a small Architectural Practice in West London in furthering his organic design philosophy within the sphere of predominately residential design. He joined the RIBA OBE programme at the Oxford School of Architecture and obtained his post-Graduate Diploma and RIBA Part 2 in 2003. In 2005, he obtained his RIBA Part 3 (PGc in Professional Practice in Architecture) from the University of Westminster, and was elected as a full chartered member of RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) and registered to practice as an Architect with ARB.

One of Abebaw’s strengths is the ability to understand clients’ needs and guide them to achieve the most practical and unique living or working spaces. His design technique not only covers traditional building geometry, but also pushes the boundary of what's possible with standard building materials. It also stretches the imagination of the builders in translating their designs. The introduction of organic geometry in the design adds flavour to Abebaw’s designs, and it paves the way to an aesthetically pleasing flow within the building. His knowledge of Advanced Environmental Technology in Architecture benefits his clients, allowing him to build the most sustainable and efficient buildings.
